Your Octopus Driver app has an upgrade!
Drivers who have linked their Uber account with Octopus can now track their tips and ride data directly in the Octopus Driver app. Your Tablet Tips can now be viewed in your Driver app, alongside your JourneyTV Score, giving a more complete picture of your performance and earnings.
Please note that your tip data updates twice a day (1x in the morning with partial data from the day prior then in the afternoon with the full data from the day prior).
How are Tablet Tips calculated?
Tablet Tip data is controlled by Uber. When your rider leaves a tip on your tablet displaying Uber JourneyTV, it will appear in the Tablet Tips section. This will not display your total Uber tips; it will only display tips awarded on the tablet.
How are Displayed and Missed rides calculated?
A ride counts as displayed if your tablet is powered on and displays Uber JourneyTV to your riders. JourneyTV activates for all Uber rides except for UberX Share, Uber Guest Rides, and Uber Teen.
A ride is missed if your tablet is unable to display Uber JourneyTV for an eligible Uber trip.
Here are some pointers to help improve your tablet tips:
- Tip #1: A quick mention at the start goes a long way. After greeting your rider, casually point out the tablet. A simple cue puts it on their radar without overdoing it.
Tip #2: A powered-down tablet cannot earn. Make it a habit to check your setup after every trip to ensure it is charged, visible, and ready to go.
Tip #3: You do not need a full pitch. Once the tablet is active and visible, it becomes part of the ride experience. A light touch often leads to better engagement.
Tip #4: Use the new Dashboard to spot patterns. More tips on days you mention the tablet? Higher engagement during certain hours? Let the data coach you.
Tip #5: The final moments matter. A smooth drop-off and a professional close leave a lasting impression, and that is often when tipping decisions happen.
