I’m Melissa, I drive in Cocoa Beach Florida. Yesterday was my second day with the tablet. One of the last rides I had for the night was a couple. And we had a lot of the same things in common. We thought the same on politics and a lot of the stuff that’s going on in America we all agreed upon. My birthday was my first day with the tablet. When this couple found out that I had only received two tips that day, this guy not only handed me a $10 bill but he also put $50 on the tablet for me. He said don’t worry about it girl you earned it! I really appreciated that customer. He said he hopes he gets me as a driver again. I hope I get him as a customer again.
I’ve been driving Uber for about a year and a half and have earned over 1,000 five-star ratings. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that riders remember how you make them feel more than anything else. I keep my vehicle clean, greet passengers with a smile, and let them choose whether they want to chat or enjoy a quiet ride.
One trip stands out to me. After dropping off a passenger, I found a $100 bill in the backseat. Instead of assuming it was a tip, I contacted the rider right away to let them know. They were incredibly grateful because they hadn’t even realized it was missing yet. I returned the money, and they later left me a generous tip along with a wonderful review.
Experiences like that have taught me that honesty, professionalism, and kindness go a long way in this business. I don’t pressure riders for tips. I focus on providing a safe, comfortable ride and treating people the way I’d want to be treated. More often than not, the tips and great ratings follow naturally
Hi 👋, I’m Humam from Chicago, and I been doing uber for 6.5 yrs. One time I got a request from O’Hare airport and it was a lady, she wanted me to take her to Michigan state, and that’s about 5-6 hurs trip, I accepted it and I’m so glad 😌 that I did!!! Because it was the best uber experience I’ve ever had!! We started driving going through city traffic and made it to Indiana, then she asked me about the octopus tablet, “ this is so cool”, she said, and I told her yes you can play games and win real money. She was playing all the games and enjoying the ride listening to music and we chatted for few hours till we made it to her destination. I saw her husband was sitting on the front stair step and I drove up to their driveway and the husband walked towards me and shook my hand and handed me $100!!! I was so happy because the uber already paid me big plus I got big tip!!! That was so exciting and took away all the tiredness from this long trip. I thanked them both and they were so nice!!
Every time a customer sees the tablet and sees their name and sees their route they feel that they’re getting the VIP treatment throughout the ride
So I picked up this guy who wanted to go get some cigarettes and snacks and while driving he was stating how excited he was to be riding with a fun social uber driver which made him want to add a round trip. So i told him to hurry and add it before i get buzzed in and it worked and we both said yayyy lol Once I made it to his destination he says you were so amazing you made my day Im going to leave you a tip and I said awww how sweet of you thanks and he says how does 50 dollars sound so i said no way are you serious I only took you like 9 minutes and he says you deserve it. I will never forget that
My Octopus account name is Michelle Metzger. The best tip i have ever gotten was on an Uber ride. It was about 9pm. The ride was about 45 minutes. I picked up a gentleman and he was heading out for a first date. He seemed really nervous. I tried to comfort him and we talked about having anxiety. I also get really anxious about certain social activities. He asked if we could stop at a gas station real quick and I agreed…he then asked if I wanted anything…I said I would take a red bull. He came out of the gas station with about 5 red bulls and a whole arm full of different kinds of snacks. He handed me almost everything he came out with and thanked me for stopping! He was really impressed with the Octopus tablet and played the entire rest of the way while we talked. When we got to his destination I wished him luck for his date! He handed me a wad of cash and said i was the most entertaining driver he ever had. It ended up being $200! Part of that was because of the Octopus tablet
That’s awesome great job
Picked up a college student who had a first connecting flight canceled. She need to get to Dulles for the second leg of her flight. It was a 4 hour drive from where she at. Begged me not to cancel because several previous had done so. She was super appreciative that was willing to take her. You never expect tips but they are appreciated. Dropped her off and on my way home got a notification of a $100 tip. Most of the longer trips don’t pay much but sometimes you never know.
It goes without saying to always be courtesy and friendly to passengers, but some people never learn. I picked up a wonderful young gentleman who was hesitant as he approached my vehicle. Apparently the driver before me arrived and proceed to yell and chastise this kid because he requested a ride into North Carolina. I told him he was more than welcome and ended up having great convo. Kid was leaving DMV and going to pick up his first car he had purchased and hence the trip to NC. 45 min later he thanks me profusely and proceeds to hand me $100 cash tip for the trip. ALWAYS be kind
My favorite tip story was taking a passenger from a dealership (we all know those kinds of rides you don’t usually get tipped) but as I pulled up to the guys house, he tried to convert me to Mormonism, and after I politely declined, he handed me $20 cash. Those are the best!
I’m based in SLC btw.
I had a ride Huntsville, Alabama to Knoxville Tennessee. This is a four hour trip. Was helping a guy go pick up a car. He literally only lived probably five streets from me when I picked him up. I told him hey Neighbor nice to see someone near me. We had all kinds of conversations about where we lived and how he was going to pick up this really cool car. I made sure to stop when you needed to stop didn’t make him pay to stop at a gas station on a four hour trip. So we finally get there. We’ve listened to music talked about video games and he’s like man. You’re a cool driver. I hope I get you again. He was like I’ve been in many Ubers and never had a Uber driver so understanding when needing to stop. Shoot you even made sure the AC is where I wanted it. You played music the way I wanted it. You even have Pandora where there’s no commercials and he’s like here you go man this is for your time. He handed me $100 bill in my hand and still tipped in the app with $60. I made 500 in one day.
